Here ya go, another clothing picture. I'm sorry I've not been updating, but my health has been up, down, left, right and any other way you can think of. I have got an answer on the way and I am working on a few other bigger pictures but due to doctor's appointments I likely won't be able to get many, if any at all, online before thursday.
Anyways, I spent a long time thinking of a spring-exclusive clothing and couldn't think of anything so I decided to do something from in-story. Drych, the wood elves, are very peaceful beings in Altair. They live as pacifists and worship their goddess, Mother Terra, while holding women above men according to Mother Terra's teachings. The wood elves tend to live far apart but in great sanctuaries on mountainsides and in forests, providing safety to travelers. Each sanctuary is each built around a pool called a Minerva Spring, which are supposedly filled with blood from Mother Terra herself, making these ponds a haven for women to relax, socialise and perform daily rituals to their bountiful goddess.
There we go, you've got some background, I'm gonna go to bed. Oh, next up in this theme is colours of winter. ~~~ "As it so happens, I very much enjoy accumulating clothing like this, even more so now that I know that people enjoy seing me wear them and out of my entire wardrobe I find clothing made by the drych, more commonly known as wood elves, to be the most stunning. I'm not usually a fan of green but it's tradition to wear colours of nature around the drych settlements, so I naturally accustomed to it eventually. Interestingly, this is actually a rather modernised costume by drycha customs; it's much more revealing and far shorter than anything you might see some of their elders wearing, yet it still abides by their customs so they're happy to accept the difference with opens arms. That being said, being female, my sisters and I could technically wear the most abrasive clothes imaginable and still get away with (almost) anything because of their laws. Now for my favourite parts of the dress; many drych clothing have the leather fastenings around the chest. I've found this quite useful for working or moving around without my cleavage getting in the way. Also, as a note for all drych clothing, the open back (traditionally for those beautiful wings of theirs) means that it can feel even breezier (bearing in mind that most of their clothing is quite open and free anyway) which can make it cold to wear at times, yet serene at others. It is indeed the kind of clothing you might really only wear in spring or summer. Another nice feature is that it's incredibly durable and resistant to all weathers as well as being waterproof. The breezy design to it actually helps the clothing breathe which prevents sweat and other bodily odours from being too noticable. (That being said the clothing isn't very resistant to heat and many have died in forest fires before where the clothing has quickly set alight.)
The boots are another modernised feature, mostly built for more practical use than those that the drych themselves wear." <b - Jasmine.</b>
WOOD elves. Also, green is the base for camo reasons, however the dress in question is there for visiting and respecting the tradition of wearing green. Actual drych would wear more camouflage-wise stuff.
yeah yeah! I was talking about that shade of green. it's not very...toned down enough to look like she's around WOOD elves. I'm just picky about the color green XD
Well, definitions of wood elves differ from story to story.
In this case they differ from place to place. The creator of the dress likely hailed from one of the havens in the open plains. In which case the need for the generic shade is lesser and could be made into a more tasteful colour that would likely sell better. Make sense?
true true. in my story, elves wore earthy colored clothes (not just green XD ) in respect to nature and the goddess yadda yadda. but as time went by, it became a bit more acceptable to wear different colors. though it's usually "new age" young people who wear other things XD
Well as for the subject of mine it's the same basic thing. The drych don't mind others wearing other clothing without said colours but it is deemed respectful for those that provided that safe haven. We were talking in context with green at the time but really, earthy colours centre on green which is why it was the main colour in the costume. As said before, the drych do everything to Mother Terra's teachings, or their interpretations (notice though how they're friendly and not being fanatical and enforcing their beliefs ) of it, so they're incredibly peaceful. Their place in Altair is to set up home in the middle of long travel paths so as to aid travelers and such that come across it. So with that in mind they'd likely come across a large variety of coloured clothing, so they'd really have to be tolerant of all of it.
As the picture's description said, Jasmine's costume was a modernised alternative to traditional drych clothing, built to show respect, as a lot of visitors to the drych do too. I guess you could say it was new age kind of stuff too.
